The son of a local politician in Goa has been arrested for allegedly raping as many as 100 underage girls, the Times of India reports. Sushant Naik, a member of the Curchorem Municipal Council, was arrested March 21 on suspicion of raping at least four minor girls and filming videos of them. According to the Times, that means Naik's son was allegedly involved in the crime since he was 17 or 18. The police are encouraging more victims to file complaints. Naik, an independent politician, was elected to the council in 2014. He was re-elected last year. The Times of India quotes a local police official as saying the number of alleged victims is more than 100. The local police chief says the victims range in age from 14 to 16. A local Congress leader says Naik is an "inspiration" for his son. “SushantNaik was never related to Bharatiya Janata Party as is being projected in some media reports. He is not even a primary member of the party," the leader says.
