G7 foreign ministers call for an immediate halt to attacks against civilians. They also urge the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping. Of the G7 nations - besides the U.S. - Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Italy are members of the trans-Atlantic military alliance. Japan is the only one that is not. "We're there to protect NATO, to protect them from Russia. But they're not there to protect us," Trump said of the G7 countries, referring to Russia and the NATO alliance, which includes the U.K.
